So I'm not very good at this blogging thing, so please don't think that our family is not busy and growing. I will add more to this blog to get us caught up to the present....I hope....

David's favorite activity (next to eating ice cycles) is shoveling. This photo is from January 25, 2012.
David had parent-teacher conferences in March to discuss how he was doing in Preschool. His teacher was very pleased with his progress. She told us that one of the exercises she does to help the kids get ready for kindergarten was to match up rhyming words. She gave David a piece of paper with pictures of a house, car, and a tree on it and asked him to match those pictures with the pictures of the star, bee, and mouse that rhyme with the other three. This is a challenge for preschoolers because hearing the words said outloud is quite different from "hearing" yourself say them in your head. Needless to say, my little Davey had no problem matching the pictures that rhymed! Prior to this he had been asking about words that rhyme, like "toy" and "boy" so rhyming wasn't new to him but not hearing the words out loud was new. David does like to rhyme and is quite good at rhyming sounds....including made up words.

Kassy and Daddy on February 1st--tonsils and adnoids removal day!
On February 1st, Kassy had her tonsils and adnoids removed. Prior to then the poor kid had basically had her nose wiped every 5 minutes all day long. It's been a rough road but things appear to be much better now. It's still a good idea to have kleenexes handy and to check on her if she sneezes though.

We do like to read stories in the Leopard Room at home.
We began potty training with Kassy around Thanksgiving 2011. I'm excited to report that on June 21, 2012, she got it! This was her first day in big girl panties without an accident all day! Kassy has also done a wonderful job with potty training at night---On June 27th, she slep in her panties all night without an accident!Since then we've had a few accidents, but it is nice not to have to put pull-ups on our Wal-Mart list. Funny....I do miss changing diapers though....

Kassy and cousin H playing together at Grandma Pi's.
Three weeks ago I put yarn extensions in Kassy's hair. Virtually overnight she went from having 8-inch long hair to hair that hung past her butt! This proved to be a challenge with going potty though, so we cut it to hang a bit below her shoulders and added some pink beads. Very adorable! She enjoys having pigtails and turning her head back and forth to make the beads bang together and make noise. She's been wearing a swimming cap at the pool and scarves outside as well as a sleep cap at night.
