Two Wheeler and Other News

Hard. Really hard. This business of having a 5-year-old. Yikes! David is such a tender-hearted but brave young man who is willing to try anything "dangerous." We are so proud of this kid! His teacher has very nice things to say about him--he's helping clean up the spilled milk, helping hurt kids, and bringing water to his teacher. He is a terrific kid. So glad he's ours!!!!

This video is from a couple of weeks ago. David is getting quite brave! He has tipped over backwards a couple of times, the first scared him but not so badly that he wouldn't try it again. He did quit asking me if he had to wear his helmet :)

Today is the really big news though. I missed out on seeing this first for David, but if I'd been home instead of Allen, it probably wouldn't have happened. David has asked me frequently to take his training wheels off, but since I spend most of my bike-riding time behind him, I could see that they were still necessary. Tonight though, on a bike ride with Allen while I was at a meeting, the training wheels came off and David took off!

In other "David" news, he invited Jesus into his heart on April 11, 2013. That is the most important thing that we want him to understand, and we are so glad to see the things he comprehends. Even at this tender age, he understands the basic concept of the Trinity (I'm pretty sure I was at least 12 before I understood that Jesus and God were one and yet separate.) Thank you Lord, for your claim on his life!
David lost his first tooth on Nate's birthday, June 19, 2013 and the second tooth on October 1, 2013. The dentist says he's really young for losing teeth, but he verified that they are coming out because the adult teeth are ready, so out they come! Davey did have his two bottom teeth at 3 months and those are the ones that came out, so it kinda makes sense.

Our little Kassy isn't to be out done though! She is quite the little princess and loves to pretend that she is, "a girl baby kitty named Princess." So glad she is ours! Her stuffed animals are her favorite toys and she likes to line them up on her bed. She got a bunk bed last month and slept on the top bunk until for some reason decided that she should now be afraid of the dark (same thing happened this summer with her bike--out of the blue she decided she should be afraid of riding it) and now sleeps on the bottom bunk. We have finally progressed to the stage where we can turn a couple of night lights on and sit outside her door until she falls asleep. Most nights she makes her way upstairs and claims the space between Daddy's side of the bed and the wall as hers. The doctor doesn't support this idea, but we get sleep, she gets sleep, and I really don't see her doing this when she's 12. So we'll enjoy having a special little girl sleep a little closer for a little while longer. David occasionally joins us, and fetches his own pillow and blanket to make his bed on the floor on my side. I do enjoy having them wake us up and snuggle...although 4 bears in the bed is crowded.

We have the best kids. Ever. Thanking God every day for protecting and preserving our family!
