Back to "Normal"

It's nice to go away for the weekend but it's nice to come home too! Tricia and I had a great time in Norman, OK watching the SDSU Jacks play in The Big Dance. Even though the ladies lost, they played a game to be proud of. My terrifically wonderful husband is to thank for this trip. You are wonderful, Allen, and I am so thankful to be married to such a wonderful man. I feel loved and cherished! I'm also blessed to have a great friend who enjoys watching basketball with me!

My wonderful folks kept David and Kassy so that I could go to the game and Allen could go to work on Monday. I met mom in DeSmet on Monday to get the kids and exchange vehicles. The kids enjoyed spending time with "Gammpa and Gamma." Thanks Mom and Dad for for loving Allen, me and the kids enough to overlook the chaos we inevitably bring. We love you!

Now for Tuesday: Bible Study! I dropped David off in the nursery this morning and headed upstairs to meet with my small group. Kassy didn't have breakfast before we left home so I took the bottle and formula with me (along with my Bible, workbook, and Diet Coke). I could smell that she'd need a diaper change soon. Sure enough, as soon as she was done with her bottle she started to fuss. I snuck into the nursery area, trying to stay out of David's sight so he wouldn't cry when I had to leave again (he's getting better about playing in the nursery but why take chances?). Kassy started to cry as I was changing her diaper so I hurried as fast as I could and went back to my group. When I went to pick up David, the nursery helpers asked if I had heard what David was saying as I was changing Kassy's diaper. He had heard her crying and knew that it was her! I am suprised that at 17 months he was even paying attention to a crying baby, let alone a crying baby that he couldn't see. He amazes me everyday with the things he learns!

Allen flew to Yankton today and it sounds like it was a worthwhile trip. He's planning to go back again on Thursday but it's not clear yet if he will fly or drive. I sure do like it when he comes home before bedtime!

We spent a little bit of time outside this afternoon. Allen fixed the gate at the west end of the deck so now David won't be able to wander too far. David played with his toys and then ventured with Kassy and me to the swingset in the front yard. He enjoyed swinging in the swing and sliding on the slide. I'll be glad when it gets a little warmer so we can stay out longer. Kassy didn't appreciate the wind and David's hands were frozen.
