Sweet Babies and Alphabet Moments

This past Tuesday I heard David "singing" the ABC song. He would sing, "A, B, C" and sometimes include the "D, E" and finish with "sing me". It's amazing how God offers me little bits of encouragement through my kids! Allen and I haven't been singing the "ABC" song very long but he has really picked up on it. I didn't sing it at all on Tuesday and yet David remembered it! I'm looking forward to hearing him sing more songs.

Today the kids and I went to visit Matthew, Sabrina, Jonah, and brand-new baby Caleb. What a little cutie! It was fun to watch Jonah and David interact in their play which part of the time looked more like tug-of-war. After dinner, Matthew wanted Jonah to sing the alphabet song before he left the table to go play. So like a good boy, Jonah began. He paused a moment after singing "v" and from across the table David quietly said "w" to "help" Jonah with the rest of the song. Sabrina and I looked at each other, then at David. I said, "Must have been a fluke!" Well, Jonah sang his ABC's again and paused when he got to "g" and David helped him again by supplying an "h"! Jonah is a pretty good good singer and knows his ABC's quite well. He also can sing "Jesus Loves Me."

I also witnessed David's rememberance of the swimming pool at the hotel in Memphis. He climbed up on the coffee table and held his arms out to me and said, "Ready?" I wasn't quite sure what he meant by that but when he jumped off the table into my arms laughing I caught on. At the hotel pool we would set him on the edge and hold our arms out to him and encourage him to lean forward and splash into the pool. He enjoyed jumping off the coffee table several more times--not a habit I want to encourage but it was fun for me too. I'm just glad that we don't have a coffee table at home!
